De Souza'S first wave was over scored for sure! that made the difference! Thats just the way it is though! It is what it is......

lets face it guys & girls, who ever switches on the web to watch adriano surf a heat????????? other than claiming brazilians???????? no one realy. I think the guy is great, realy good in small waves, but he got smoked by greg emslie and got pushed the whole contest. I hate claiming!!!! bruce irons must think adrianos a kook of note, claiming 1 ft pathetic waves... qs level approach...

De souza ripped this event, silvana lima won the last 2 events, gabriel medina won the king groms scored 20 points (that guy is amazing)... something goog is coming up to the brazilians...
the result of this heat is exacty right.. you want talk about overscore... check out theses heats, helly x kekoa (trestles) and parko x kekoa (brazil)... theses heats was really robbed.. kelly is the king and parko is brillant, but many times theses guys have been overscored..

Ummmm, I'm pretty sure anyone without a bias would tell you they thought Slater was the better surfer in that heat. He displayed better wave knowlege, better rail to rail surfing, executed every maneuver with power, and surferd hi waves to the fullest. Adriano got the bigger and better waves but took a pass on maneuvers in the second section because he was not relaxed. His first wave score was inexplicable. I'm a Parko fan and truly respect Adriano's surfing so this is not a love letter to Slate

Congrats to the aussies for their clever maths. When you loose, just eliminate the strongest contender. Kelly surfed faster, stronger and displayed unlimited flow.
My simpathy goes to all who've watched and recognised his creativity, relaxation, rail to rail surfing, large sprays and ininterrupt surf lines.ASP has improved dramatically over the past few years, perhaps they could have the political courage to address judgement and take surfing to the level it rightfully deserves.

Adriana had bigger waves and surfed them well. he has as much flow as slater and to say the judges have been underscoring him is bull[no swearing please]. slater has pulled off more bull[no swearing please] wins than anyone. for instance J Bay final 2005 and also Trestles final 2008. So i am stoked for De Souza.

I wish people would get off Adriano's case... I'm not a fan of his surfing but the kid just won his first CT event after coming close 3 other times! He has every right no matter what the conditions to throw the arms up. He was very humble in his post heat interview so all credit to him.

Slaters turns more out on the face. Adriano in more critical parts of the wave. Adriano took it!

how can a jerky, non flowing, wave claiming show off beat the most stylish, fluid yet radical surfer at his peak in that heat. has the Billabong V Quiksilver stoush got to the judges who were obviosly proB and antiQ.

Slater always has the biggest scores and nobody talks anything. Adriano surfing has more speady and vertical power than Slater's turns. Slater lamping was ridiculous...

I think Adriano got robbed. He deserved more points for his waves. The judges are all biased towards Slater.

By the way, love Slater, he had more flow than Adriano, BUT Adriano was far more radical.

Stink bugg de souza needs to take notes on slater's fluidity!!!!

Kelly doesn't really get a steep section to work with. Most of his turns are off mushy sections and lateral.
Adriano gets better waves and does more critical turns in the steeper part of the wave = judging criteria.

close heat but I would have to say Slater. Not sure how AS go the 8.33. I do not see the difference from kelly's' 7...except for less turns

Adriano had better waves, Slater surfed better because he is a better surfer. Two contests in a row where he's lost in this way...Makes you think that maybe the judges are having a hard time looking past their own wallets, that is, the ASP.

why all this whining about kelly's loss, he's been enough overscored in this lifetime. AND he got some help to beat adriano in france last year, so... payback time. it's sad to end a contest with those waves, though
